BRUCE MCFARLAND was born in Valdosta, Georgia, in 1963. He grew up in Cordele, Georgia and later attended Valdosta State University where, in August 1989, he obtained a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. After working in the transportation industry for two years, Mr. McFarland attended Cumberland Law School and obtained his law degree in May, 1994. While at Cumberland, Mr. McFarland received a teaching fellowship for legal research and writing and was a member of the National Trial Team.
After Mr. McFarland passed the Georgia Bar in May 1994, he began practicing with the firm of Reinhardt, Whitley, and Wilmot in Tifton, GA. Eager to litigate, he accepted an offer of employment from Smith, Welch & Brittain and has practiced here since 1996. He is also President of the Towaliga Circuit Bar Association.
In 1990, Mr. McFarland married Stacy McFarland, a speech pathologist, and they have three children, Shelby, Jake and Sam. Mr. McFarland’s interests outside of work include hunting, fishing, golfing and cooking.
